Ana is a Tbilisi based illustrator with background in early childhood development (and sublimated passion for illustrating poetry). In 2020 she was awarded with Chevening Scholarship to study MA in Children’s Illustration in Goldsmiths, University of London and graduated in 2021.
Ana currently collaborates with Zoliani Kata Publishing (Georgia) and Starfish Bay Children's Books (Australia). She has illustrated six picturebooks published in Georgia since 2017. Her first book “Hipa Chooses a Profession” was awarded with National Children’s Literature Award for the best picturebook. For about a decade, after graduating MA in Human Development and Psychology in Harvard University in 2009, she worked in the field of early childhood education and became passionate about early literacy, picturebooks and picturebook art. After the birth of her son, she returned to her childhood dream and became a… children’s book Illustrator! Ana uses traditional and mixed media techniques to create memorable characters and dramatic compositions.
She is interested in representation of child empowerment and loves to play with intertextuality and humour in her illustrations. With her picturebooks, Ana tries to speak to and engage equally with child and adult audience.
